Born in Ashland, KY, Josh has been a Kentucky resident for most of his life.  He has had an interest in, and played guitar for most of his life.  It wasn’t until about 2008-2009 that Josh developed a deep interest for fingerstyle guitar.   “I was fascinated by the sound of the open string chords and licks Chet and Tommy would play.”  In 2010, Josh entered the “International Home of the Legends” thumb picking contest which is held in Muhlenberg county KY each year in September at the Merle Travis Music Center.  Josh won 1st place in the Traditional category, 2nd place in the Contemporary category, and is the 2010 Grand Champion.

Since the competition, Josh has performed at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society(CAAS) Convention in Nashville TN,  The Merle Travis Music Center in Powderly KY,  The McConnell Arts Center in Worthington OH, and other events locally.  Josh currently attends his local Church where he plays regularly.  “It is a gift from the Lord.  I thank the Lord for everything that He has given me.”
